2020 wasn’t an easy year to be in charge of procurement at Anglican Care, a 12-facility aged care group in NSW.
As Contracts and Procurement Manager, Kathryn Hill was under pressure to maintain stocks of essential supplies for each of the group’s sites.
She’s based at Anglican Care’s headquarters in Booragul, where their very first home was established over 60 years ago. Their current facility in Booragul, known as CA Brown Lodge, is brand new and spacious, half an hour from Newcastle, opposite tranquil Lake Macquarie.
Anglican Care has been an institution in the Booragul community since its launch in 1956. They’re proudly “about as local as you can get”, with a good helping of innovative ideas and programs that improve aged care nationally.
But as much as we appreciate being recognised as a leader in aged care, the real reward comes from helping our residents and consumers to stay actively connected and engaged with life.
Anglican Care
Which is the whole point, really.
Because while the world might change, our culture of care never will.
We’ll always be committed to the ideal that life is precious… and that every moment matters.
Kathryn’s critical role in this important mission is to ensure that Anglican Care’s support, comfort and care continue without supply interruptions, even through a global crisis. She must juggle supply risks, product availability, value for money and ethical concerns, while keeping an eye on service delivery.
When NSW Health’s new lockdown requirements were released in early 2020, Kathryn had a problem. Anglican Care’s supply chain couldn’t meet the rocketing demand in critical categories like isolation gowns, face masks and nitrile gloves.
Kathryn reached out to Veridia.
They looked after us through the whole year. Some of 2020 could have been truly hideous if we had not found such a steady supply with Veridia.
While many aged care facilities were struggling to get hold of PPE through resellers and manufacturers, Anglican Care was able to partner with Veridia. Their access to reliable stock helped to reduce operational risk and protect staff and residents from current outbreaks.
Our account manager is fantastic. Really prompt and helpful, working hard to deliver under pressure to tight deadlines. Veridia has delivered on every commitment they’ve made.
Kathryn admits at first, she was afraid she’d be burnt dealing with a new supplier, who could be one of the price-gougers or unreliable opportunists.
Her impression now?
“Veridia is really flexible, getting what we need when we need it, friendly, helpful, going out of their way to keep me happy, answering even the hard questions honestly.”
Anglican Care was threatened by COVID-19 community transmission and needed N95 masks urgently. Veridia responded promptly to this need, and ensured supply was onsite within 24 hours.
Kathryn never had to worry about PPE stocks slipping her mind – her account manager followed up at every turn. The facility managers at each site didn’t need to call her looking for ETAs – they trusted the reliable delivery model.
At Anglican Care, every moment matters. Veridia is by their side to make sure their customers and staff can safely enjoy all of the moments.
