As the pandemic still disrupts the aged care industry, providers now face challenges from the AN-ACC model – care minute mandates linked to funding, pending star ratings and increasing regulation.
To gain insights into the effect of current changes in the Australian aged care industry, we embarked on a series of interviews with procurement leaders across a range of facilities.
These conversations provided direct insights from executives and senior management, highlighting time as the most valuable resource in the industry.
As a result, we’ve developed a research paper to share the insights that were uncovered through the study, focusing on these key areas:
· Top issues for aged care procurement teams
· Which staff perform routine replenishment tasks
· Time spent on purchasing tasks
· Possible ideas to increase procurement value
· Ideal solutions for their procurement issues
Aged care needs a clear line of sight into time use, to transfer staff time spent on non-care activities into more profitable care minutes. We found that 81% of interviewees believed clinical staff were spending time on purchasing activities rather than caring for residents.
